Digital India is a campaign launched by an Indian government through its ability to electronically enhance the Internet through better online infrastructure and by increasing Internet connectivity or digitally digitizing the country in the field of technology. This scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 2, 2015. This initiative includes plans for connecting rural areas with high-speed internet networks. Digital India has three main components:
- Development of Safe and Stable Digital Infrastructure
- Digitally deliver government services
- Universal digital literacy

Modiji’s dream through the Digital India program is that if all the plans are successful, then the scheme is well implemented by the government of India. With this, the Government of India hopes to achieve development on many fronts. Specifically, the Government’s goal is to target 9 columns of Digital India, which they recognize:

Future of Digital India
Some of the features offered through this initiative are Digital Locker, e-Learning, e-Health, e-Sign and National Scholarship Portal. As part of Digital India, the Central Government had planned to start the Botnet cleaning centers.
Through Digital Locker facility, Indian citizens will be able to store their important documents in digital stores such as PAN cards, passports, mark sheets and degree certificates. Digital Locker will provide secure access to government-issued documents. There are three main stakeholders for this.

attendance.gov.in is a website which was inaugurated by Shri Modi on July 1, 2015. This is a government site that will keep a record of the presence of government employees from time to time. The biometric presence system will be introduced soon in the country. This scheme has been started from the Central Government Offices located in Delhi.
MyGov.in is a platform for sharing inputs and views on policy and governance matters. This is a platform for citizen engagement in governance through the “discussion”, “do” and “disimannate” approach.
Digital India Clean India Mission (SBM):
Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) is a mobile app. It is being used by people and government organizations to achieve the goals of Swachh Bharat Mission.
Digital India Christian Profile:
Christian profile allows citizens to sign online documents through base certification.
Digital India E-hospital:
E-hospital provides important services like online registration, payment of fees and appointment, online diagnostic report, inquiries about availability of blood online etc.
National Scholarship Portal:
NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PORTAL has finished the application, verification, scholarship process etc. of the students and made it online directly after filling the eligible student’s online form.
Digital India E-Contact:
E-contact is a mechanism for contacting citizens electronically, for sending information and public service messages through e-mail, SMS and outbound dialling.

On July 1, 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has committed to invest Rs 224.5 lakh crore for the top CEO initiatives of the country and abroad at the Digital India Week Festival by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The CEO said that this investment will be used to make smartphones and internet devices such as wi-fi at an affordable price in India, which will help in generating employment in India and at the same time they will also reduce the cost of importing from abroad.
Silicon Valley, San Jose, California leaders gave their support to Digital India during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in September 2015. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg changed his profile picture in support of Digital India, Google CEO Sondar Pichai promised to provide free Wi-Fi to 500 railway stations in the country. Digital Bhart – Details
According to the main focus of Digital India, villages are like, and in the same way, rural areas also connect high-speed internet network and improve digital literacy. From the point of view of this digital India program, inclusive of electronic services, products, manufacturing and employment opportunities etc., is inclusive development and it focuses on three main areas – for every citizen, administration and services on digital civil, division and digital empowerment. There are digital infrastructure as utility.
Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL), the Indian government unit which will carry out the National Optical Fiber Network project, will be given the patron by the Digital India (DI) project. BBNL ordered United Telecom Limited to connect 250,000 villages through GTPO. This will provide the first basic setup for Digital India and which is expected to be completed by 2017.
The central government is planning to create 28,000 seats of BPO in every state of the country and at least one common service center in every village panchayat.

The Government of India, in its 2016 Union Budget, announced the release of 11 technology initiatives, including data analytics, used to catch tax evaders, which would give IT companies a substantial opportunity to create those systems which will be required. Six million rural families will be included in the Digital Literacy Mission. With this, plans have been made to add 550 farmers’ markets to the country through the use of technology.
A total of 10% of the English are spoken in the country, out of which only 2% live in rural areas. Everyone else depends on their local language to live their life. In order to connect rural India with digital India, the Government of India has started email service including Gmail, Office and Rediff to provide email address in regional languages which are applicable only in English. Data from an Indian based company, Data Zen Technologies Private Limited, has started the world’s first free linguistic email address under the name ‘Datam’, “Datam” which allows to create e-mail id in English in 8 Indian languages, as well as 3 Foreign languages – Arabic, Russian and Chinese will also work.
